Sedation at Family Dentistry on Locke

At Family Dentistry on Locke, we have a range of sedation options that will allow you to receive world class dental care, with the safety and comfort of sedation.  We work with local specialists and medical doctors to ensure the highest margin of safety for your dental care.

Level 1:  NITROUS OXIDE (LAUGHING GAS)

This form of sedation allows a patient to be calm and relaxed throughout their appointment. The patient breathes the nitrous oxide gas, providing a comfortable and relaxing experience. Once the procedure is complete, you can typically go home on your own accord, without a chaperone.

Level 2: CONSCIOUS SEDATION (ORAL SEDATION)

Oral sedation allows for a mild to moderate sedation, where the patient is conscious, but very relaxed and forgets most of what has happened.  This is a great option for dental phobia patients, and those who would like to get a large amount of dental work done in a short appointment.  It is a simple pill that sedates the patient, decreases anxiety, and blocks memory of the procedure.

Patients must follow preop and post operative instructions, and requires someone to bring them to the office, take them home safely, and stay with the patient for 16 hours. 

Level 3: DEEP SEDATION AND GENERAL ANESTHESIA

For patients requiring a deep sedation or general anesthesia, we arrange for medical doctors and anesthesiologists to provide the advanced level of sedation for our patients.  The beautiful part of this approach is that you have world class medical care for the anesthesia component of your treatment, while your dentist can focus on providing the high quality of care you have become accustomed to.
